Handbuilt Divided Dish

Learn how to make your own Divided Dish using clay slabs and hand building techniques. These divided dishes can be used in the oven for baking but also make great serving dishes. In this class we will discuss the best clays to use for bakeware and how to care for your handmade bake ware
This class is perfect for all ages and skill levels.

Materials:
3-5 lbs of clay, you can use any clay you like. If you want to make this dish for baking, then use a clay designed for oven use. I am using Laguna #60 speckled brown clay.
Divided Dish Center Strip Template
Oval GR Pottery Forms. 6.5” x 8.5” and 8” x 10”
½” Spacer, GR Pottery Forms makes them but you can use a scrap piece of wood too
Clay Knife, I am using the Dolan 220s,
Flexible ribs, I am using the #3 yellow and #1 red Sherrill mud tool ribs
Sponge
Yellow mud Tool Rib
Bowl or bucket of water
Serrated rib
Slip or magic water (recipe available on clayshareresources.com)
A Surform Tool, like a Cheese Grater but used for Wood or Clay. Mine is made by Stanely
Color shaper/clay shaper
Ware boards for working on and drying on, here I am using ¾” plywood
Something for texture if desired, I am using the Floating Ginkgo rolling pin
A Kiln, your own or access to one
