May Challenge Intro

This month’s challenge theme is Flowers and the form is Planters.

Flowers:
Think of all the ways you can use flowers in your pottery. Here are some great ideas:
Use a floral texture rolling pin
Press a doily for lace with flowers on it to your clay
Carve flowers into your surface, also you can so Sgraffito flowers
Use the Mishima inlay technique to draw flowers on your pot
Paint on flowers with underglaze ie: Painterly Underglaze or Majolica
Sculpt flower
Attach flowers to pieces, they look great around handles.

Planters
You can make a planter for any type of plant even faux plants! Here are some ideas:
Succulent Tray Planter
Tripod Planter
Mini Succulent Planter
Wall Planter/ Hanging Planter
Wall Vase made into a Planter
Air Fern Holders
A Coil Planter
Center Piece Planter
Window Box Planter
Flower Pot
Extruded Planter
Footed Planter

You can choose to do just a flower piece or a planter or combine them both into one. Remember it is not a race or contest and it doesn’t matter if you complete the piece or not. Please don’t compare what you’ve made to what others have made. Everyone is on their own journey and at different places in their pottery making. What matters is that you challenge yourself and have fun doing it.
