Join Doug Peltzman for this six hour, two part, live virtual workshop focusing on handles. He’ll walk us through a variety of techniques and insights on making and attaching handles. Handles for mugs, teapots, and vases will all be covered. The handle is the most rushed and over looked part of the making process, his goal is for students to spend as much time on handle development as they do on the pots they make. He will also share what goes into being a full time potter and maintaining a home studio. We’ll talk clay, kilns, glazes, and all things revolving around a life of making utilitarian pottery. You will have the opportunity to ask Doug questions in real time as he throws and shares his unique approach to handles.

About Doug
Doug Peltzman was born in NYC and raised on Long Island. He has been making pots since 2003. Since graduating with his MFA from Penn State in 2010, he established a pottery studio with his wife, Pam, in Shokan, NY. He is a father to three young children, a dedicated husband, and a full time studio potter. He has had the honor of being both a juror and curator of national exhibitions and has extensively taught workshops at many art centers and universities throughout the United States. Doug is a founding member of Objective Clay and creator/organizer of the Hudson Valley Pottery Tour. His work has been featured in many national publications and can be found in homes and kitchens across the country.
